Performer Song Comments Yards
Gary Allstar Weekend - Mr. Wonderful Cool beat! This sounds like a mix of pop and hip-hop (like LFO). I like the cheapo Casio keyboard sounds in the background. This would have fit in perfectly with your pep rallies, especially the New Year's one. That sweatshirt is class. This was a pretty upbeat start to your year! 13
Andy Beach House - Zebra I read your article on them (WICKED AWESOME we are going back to articles!), and I read that you played Beach House in the beginning of 2007, I don't remember that! Very oceanic chords! Actually I think I remember this one. The vocals are certainly unique and fit the music. This has a seeping beach feel, a deep ocean touch in the instruments, it really floats! I remember the main chorus a little bit (if this was played before). Reminded me vocally of The Verve. Its pretty amazing how they keep the guitar and pattering the drums throughout. High quality music here 13
Gary American Hi-Fi - Surround This is an old, old classic. Although these guys had a few comebacks, they were never fulltime since 2005 really. He has a whiny voice but it works VERY WELL for the music. It MAKES their music. The hooks are always there with them but it's slightly raw too! This is one of their best songs. 15
Andy Art Brut - Pump Up the Volume LMAO! THIS WAS A GREAT SURPRISE! I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THEM! LOL this guy's vocals AND lyrics are BOTH funny. LOL the pop song line is CLASSIC. I am GLAD THEY ARE BACK. Sneaky good guitar 15
Gary All Time Low - Who's Ready To Party? Classic band name. Kind of same vocal style as American Hi-Fi: that pop-neopunk.I see you're set up like a stage over there again...like in past Januaries and spring plans...it's nice. Not as big of a hook as your last song, but the youthful effort is there. 13
Andy Best Coast - Boyfriend LOL that band name like rocks. She's way deep in the background almost like a Ride or My Bloody Valentine. This has shoegaze tendancies. Her vocals are pleasant. Pretty catchy main line. The drums seem louder than her LOL. Really intriguing song 15
Gary Runner Runner - Unstoppable I do remember this band name and I remember the vocals in this chorus. Sounds a little like Switchfoot. Gets disco-y. I see you're using the chair as a new prop LMAO. This has some good, hopeful lyrics and has a positive attitude about it. The chorus is downright new wave-ish. Very modern production in this, it's shimmery. Another upbeat tune. 13
Andy Rogue Wave - Publish My Love Here's an instant classic! Probably one of the most cheerful and passionate choruses, and one of the simplist, that's why it's so good. The drum clashes THEMSELVES are catchy. This has a bit of folk in it. This song was always great and its refreshing to hear it again, it's been a long time in between plays for this one. 15
Gary Allstar Weekend - Journey To The End Of My Life LOL this song title!! The chorus reminds me of Yellowcard/Sugarcult. The lyrics are playful, and they're full of "calamity jane"-isms LMAO. The chorus is quite catchy second time 'round. He asks a good question, lol. Some rapping in the bridge. Overall another kneeslapper. 15
Andy Maximo Park - Apply Some Pressure LOL similar to Art Brut with the quickly punch lines and the innuendo LOL. The chorus is so catchy, its punky and alt. I like the bridge ALOT, great guitar undertone. Reminded me instantly of spring. LOL "PRESSHA!" This gets 15. Hands down. PErfect basement song. 15
Gary The Ready Set - Back To Back To Back This is VERY poppy, like in a McFly, LFO, or Hanson kind of way. The chorus sounds like a big anthem. This was a pretty fun song, it has large planet aspirations. The lyrics are positive and playful. 13
Andy Nine Days - End Up Alone OMG! This is such a radio-friendly chorus lol. I like the keyboard bop. The verses almost go cat country. This song runs the lines of that girl gone Hollywood sellout song LOL! The chorus is maddeningly catchy. Tons o fun this one here 15
Gary Allstar Weekend - Bend or Break The kids in the background are freaky. This sounds like 90s/2000s merge of hip-hop and rock. A lot of huge, holding vocals in this. Big production, big feel. It sounds expensive LMAO. This is a straight summertime song. 13
Andy Massive Attack - Dissolved Girl Holy shiskabob! You can hear the bass about to erupt LOL. They KNOW BASS. The bass erupts intro a huge trip-hop arena. What they did in 2008 was introduce the genre and basically cement it in concerts, they had a heck of a deep run. Her voice here is souly and thuggish, and not degenerate like rap lol. The beat is rocksteady. I didn't expect to hear Massive Attack tonight, but hey I'm not complaining! 15
Gary Panic! At The Disco - Mona Lisa These guys did a cover of Karma Police. I can't believe they are finally being played down here. One thing I notice is how the guitar tone is: higher than normal pop-punk. It's a more vintage sound, but the pop-punk hooks are still there. Seriously whacky band name and sound. Will we hear more? 13
Andy The Decemberists - The Engine Driver This was probably the most pleasant surprise at all. You know I was really thinking about them the other day and I really miss them. They add alot of color and character to each concert. Its funny how he talks about money in this, the lyrics are undeniably interesting. His voice is really folky and they do well with harmonizing. 15
Gary The Downtown Fiction - Happy These guys sound like American Hi-Fi, with similar hookage. The guitar is thick and power chordage. I'm seeing a definite pattern in your playlist and core music! 13
Andy The Verve - Space and Time His voice is really terrific and yearning. As is the music. They write believer, approachable songs that still require loyalty on the listener to hear deeper than what's on the surface. They are sort of a Radiohead Jr. The whole last minute or so is pretty precious and a masterpiece. This guy is the classic wanderer through his songs, he truly does create a mindscape, but its an approachable mindscape. That's what makes them grand. 15
Gary All Time Low - Keep The Change, You Filthy Animal LOL this title. This sounds like Newfound Glory!!! In a fun way! This one kind of bubbled up to the top of the heap actually. It has a nice flow to it. 15
Andy The Whigs - Right Hand on My Heart OMG! This is THE HUGE spring song. This was the first song AFTER the beginning era of concerts that we both took a liking to and thought it was POUNDING. A song like this was kind of unheralded to that point of concerts, this song just SOUNDED HUGE, BIGGER than the others. LMAO! THE LIGHT! The flickering light with your hair during these guitar chops was PERFECT! It look like a real concert!!!!!! The bridge grows hair on my teeth. 15
